Online Ohms Law Calculator to Find Voltage, Power, Current and Resistance

The three essential electrical quantities like resistance, current and voltage. Of the three, current is the one that carries energy through a circuit. If you’ve been operating with circuits, you probably have an idea of how resistance, current and voltage are related and you recognize that if you increase the voltage, the current goes up and if you increase the resistance by adding a second light bulb the current goes down. The basic relationship for circuits is called “ohms law”.

What is Ohm’s Law?

Ohms law states that, dissipation due to the resistance or it is the relation between voltage, current and resistance in an ideal conductor. A graph of voltage against the current is a straight line and the slope is the resistance.
Ohm’s law is derived by V=IR
Where,  ‘V’ is voltage, that is measured in Volts
‘I’ is current, that is measured in Amps
‘R’ is resistance, that is measured in ohms

The Mathematical Formulas of Ohm’s Law

For calculating resistance (R), voltage (V) and current (I), ohm’s law can be rewritten in three ways

  • If a current ‘I’ should flow through a resistor R, the voltage ‘V’ can be calculated as V=IxR
  • If a current ‘I’ flows through a voltage ‘V’ across Resistor ‘R, current ‘I’ can be calculated as I=V/R
  • If a current ‘I’ flows through a resistor ‘R’, and there is a voltage ‘V’ across the resistor, resistance ‘R’ can be calculated as R = V / I

The Magical Ohm’s Law

The magical VIR triangle can be used to calculate all designs of ohm’s law. Use a finger to hide the value to be calculated, then the remaining two values will show how to calculate.

Ohm’s Law Calculator Excluding Power

When you enter two of the three factors in three tables of ohms law calculator like Voltage, Current, and Resistance. The third factor will be calculated when you click on the Calculate button for that table.

To calculate the circuit voltage (V), current (I) and the resistance (R) the formulas are

  • To calculate the voltage, the formula is V=IxR
  • To calculate the current, the formula is I=V/R
  • To calculate the resistance, the formula is R=V/I

Ohm’s Law Calculator Including Power

When you enter two of the four factors in four tables of ohms law calculator like Power, Voltage, Current, and Resistance. The fourth factor will be calculated when you click on the Calculate button for that table.

To calculate the circuit Power (P), voltage (V), current (I) and the resistance (R) the formulas are

  • To calculate the power, the formula is W = V x I or W = I2 x R or W = V2 / R
  • To calculate the voltage, the formula is V=IxR
  • To calculate the current, the formula is I=V/R
  • To calculate the resistance, the formula is R=V/I

Example

A 12V battery provides power to a conductor home appliance with a resistance of 24 ohms. What quantity current is flowing through the curling iron?
Ohm’s Law V=IxR
I=V/R, where V=12V, R=24 Ohms then,
I=12/24=0.5 Amps
