The simple 1-watt mono audio amplifier circuit with an 8-pin KIA6278P IC is shown below. This amplifier circuit provides 1 Watt power output on a 6 Volts power supply on a 4 Ohms loudspeaker.
The required components to make this circuit mainly include; KIA6278P IC, electrolytic capacitors; C3 to C6 like; 100uF/25V, 47uF/25V, 100uF/25V, and 470uF/25V, Two 2-pin connectors, Ceramic capacitors like; C1 and C2; 104 and 04uF.

The connections of this circuit follow as;

The Pin-1 of KIA 6278P IC1 is connected to an input terminal through a C1 capacitor. Capacitor C2 is simply connected to an input terminal & GND. This capacitor filters a noise signal available within an audio input signal.

The C3 capacitor is connected to pin-3 & GND where the positive terminal of the C3 capacitor is connected to pin-3 & negative terminal is to GND.

The C4 capacitor is connected directly to pin-2 of IC1 where the positive terminal is connected to pin-2 & negative terminal to GND.

The pins 5 and 6 of IC are grounded.

The Pin-7 is connected directly to the C6 capacitor & also to a 1 Watt/4 Ohms speaker using a 2-pin connector.

Pin-8 is connected to + 6Volts DC. The C6 capacitor is connected to pin-8 & GND ground.


This amplifier circuit can be assembled on a veroboard (or) a circuit board. Once the connections are made then connect a 1 Watt/4 Ohms speaker with a 2-pin connector. After that, a 6V battery or an AC/DC power supply is provided to your amplifier circuit. For calibration and adjusting, a signal generator or a screwdriver is used.

Once the power supply is provided to your amplifier circuit, take the screwdriver & contact gently over a connector2 (an AF input terminal). You must listen to a humming sound which is getting from a speaker. At last, connect audio input using an MP3 player, mobile, computer, or laptop and enjoy listening to music.

Types of Monoblock Amplifier

Class-AB Monoblock Amplifier

The amplifier which has both the Class A & Class B amplifiers is known as the class AB amplifier. Class A amplifier generates very clear sound whereas Class B type is energy-efficient although less accurate.
